Liverpool Was Locked Down. We Made Mythical Birds.

It's May 2020. Nobody's going anywhere. Light Night — Liverpool's beloved annual festival of art, light, and staying out too late — wasn't happening in the streets this year. So we did what anyone would do when handed a lockdown and a blank canvas.

We built a Liverbird avatar creator. Obviously.

The Liverbird has watched over Liverpool for centuries from the top of the Royal Liver Building — mythical, fierce, and deeply, stubbornly Scouse. For Light Night at Home, we brought that energy into the living room. Pick your beak. Choose your plumage. Make it yours. Slap it on your profile picture and join the thousands of Liverpudlians who refused to let a global pandemic get in the way of a good night out.

It's silly. It's joyful. It's exactly the kind of thing that matters more than it looks like it does.

How We Pulled It Off

Sometimes the best projects are the ones that arrive fast, get built fast, and go straight out the door to people who need them. The avatar creator was designed and built at speed for a specific moment — a city separated from itself, looking for a way to still feel like a city. Customisable layers, shareable output, instant gratification.
